Monday, November 28, 2005 @ 3:26 pm by -DS-I have been craving for a PVR just since I knew something like TIVO existed, but with this little program I can create my own PVR. All I need is a TV Card and my computer does the rest…, BUT,for that I will build a new computer because the processing power will be so much that it will render my computer useless, in other words, I wont be able to use my computer while watching TV, and that is something I do a LOT.
This will be my new little project scheduled for when I move with my BF next year, probably March.
What I need?
- A Motherboard, preferable AMD.
- A cheap Athlon processor (probably 2.8GHZ or something)
- A TV Card compatible with linux (Gentoo probably)
- A SMALL case for the computer because it will most probably be sitting next to my Playstation on the living room.
- Some kind of wireless adapter for LAN connectivity (To retrieve guide information through the web and to remotely administer the box in case something goes wrong with it)
- Some kind of infrared adapter for the remote
- LOTS of hard disk space, the more the better!!!
- 512MB of RAM, at most 1GB, but that would be too much
I might be missing something but those are the most important parts of it. I can hardly wait!!!
