Brokeback Mountain
Monday, May 22, 2006 @ 8:30 pm by -DS-I don’t know why this movie won an Oscar because I’ve seen way better dramas one of them being American Beauty and this movie, Brokeback Mountain, can’t even dream to compare to American Beauty. I don’t really know why I don’t like the movie because I felt identified by the story, in fact I would probably have ended like them If I had stayed in my hometown (not dead but living a lie) but the movie should have presented the story some other way instead of random snapshots of their lives. But the worst part, they are gays and gays LOVE sex, I mean, I can have a hot sex session with my boyfriend and half an hour later I am asking for more, or masturbating fantasizing of what we just did if he is not here, but in this movie there is only ONE sex scene and that’s just plain absurd.
I think that I know why I don’t like the movie and it’s because they were not really in love, they just had lust for each other but lust is hardly love. Why I say this? Well the movie doesn’t say but one could assume by what they talk that they were virgins, two virgins in their late teen’s having a first sexual encounter, you ALWAYS remember your first encounter as something “special” especially if you are a teenager. After they leave the mountain they don’t see each other for 4 years, do you know how much sexual tension four years can build?, I know I know, one got married but its not the same kind of sex. After that they keep seeing each other one or two times a year so the lust build up is always there.
The idea of the movie was good but it was awfully presented because the movie keep on showing meaningless snapshots of their lives instead of focusing on their relationship building, let me clarify, the movie DOES shows parts where they relate to each other but those scenes are just not deep enough, at least not for me.
If you haven’t seen this movie don’t bother and go rent something else, I am the kind of person that cries when a good drama hook me up and this one didn’t do it.

Boo-fucking-hoo.
