“Next Generation” Gaming

A few days ago I bought an Xbox 360 not because of the games or because of the so called “power” of the console, I bought it because I was looking for a Media Center extender and the cheapest one I could find was around $300, so I said, bah, for $200 more I can get an Xbox 360, watch TV and play games. And so I did.

But I was tempted to buy games, there was one little game that caught my attention a while ago called Fable, the story is not so great but the game play is awesome.  Every action you do, or every decision you take affects your character, that hooks the player so much to the point that you get angry or upset whenever you find a new scar on your character… or horns like it did to mine.  I mean, why would they give me horns?!, I just killed my sister…, and my best friend…. And a whole town…, Anyway, the game is GREAT.  I want to play it again and be good, but that will wait a little longer because of…

Kameo.  The graphics are AWESOME, this game looks like a CGI or “Pre-rendered” video during the whole game.  I also have Jade Empire but haven touched it because of a big disappointment that is addictive.

Dead Rising

The graphics on this game are… ok you guessed it, awesome, yay… or something.  Having more than 500 zombies on the screen, AT THE SAME TIME, is superb, I never get tired of smashing zombies with everything I can find on my path.  This game is very reminiscent of Dawn of the Dead, but with another story.  The huge disappointment of this game is something that would appear to be irrelevant but becomes annoying fast.  The text on this game was made to be seen on an HDTV, so if you are using a SDTV, like I do (and I have no intention to buy a HDTV for now)  you cant see what the NPC’s are telling you, what takes me to the other point.  This is a “Next Gen” console, why in the fucking hell the NPC’s can’t have voice-overs?  You see, these are minor things but when a developer fails to make them properly it makes your life a living hell.  And I am not even talking about the save system…

Anyway, Micosoft won my heart, I just hope that Microsoft give Vista  the same love it gave to the Xbox 360, if they do that they will have an awesome OS.

I can dream, cant I?
