I am a convert

UbuntuSo, for the past few days Ive been testing the newest version of Ubuntu (hardy 8.04 beta) and all I have to say is that in a few months (after university’s over) I will be formatting my main computer and installing this awesome piece of software. Linux has changed so much since I last tried it a few years ago that is almost unrecognizable. Off are the long command line-installation processes to give room to the awesome “next next next install” graphic interface, which I think is a great improvement.

I still have a grudge with the connection management because the default that comes installed in Ubuntu saw my wireless router but was not able to connect no matter what I did, the only way I was able to connect via wireless was manually using the shell but I hated it because, well, I accept it, I am a lazy bastard that hates to type commands in a sterile boring window. But then I discovered WICD and with it I was able to connect wireless without problems. I am really liking this, specially Synaptic since I am able to install whatever program I want with a few clicks and there are a LOT of programs to choose from. From now on I will be making my web development on this computer (I stole Kaiser´s laptop) because its much more convenient since I can replicate my hosting environment and flawlessly transfer the applications without having to debug them there.

Anyway, I will keep playing with this today since I am on “sick” leave. Later!
