Compulsive Shopping.

Ever since they told me “Jose, I have good news for you!” I’ve wanted to buy stuff, lots of stuff I’ve wanted to have since a long, long time ago but I couldn’t because I was saving money to move to the United States and I don’t really know if I am making the right decisions. For example, last week I was really bored at my apartment and suddenly I had this urge to get myself an iPhone, I talked about it to my significant other and we both agreed that since I was starting to work next week (on the 18th) that it was ok, so we just got off our assess and went to an AT&T store and got not one, but two iPhones.
After that I had been toying with the idea of buying an HDTV, but not just any HDTV, I wanted a huge ass one because I was tired of playing in a small computer screen. So today, after analyzing my situation I said “FUCK IT! I just have one last free week and then it will be like it was in Puerto Rico, no time to play except on weekends.”, so then I just convinced my “significant other” to go and get the TV I wanted, one slip of my card and “cashing” I had a new huge ass HDTV.
The thing is, and I don’t like to admit this but I am a very superstitious person, well, not that much but I don’t think everything is just coincidence. Anyway, when we got home with the TV the screen was smashed, it looked like something strong hit it but the box was alright, so we don’t really know what happened there. We went to the store to change it and they didn’t have a replacement unit so we had to go to another store to get one.
I am not really sure if I am making the right decisions, then again, I felt the same way when moving to the USA and everything has been all right up to this point.

I don’t think a few things going wrong are going to dictate how life’s gonna be here. I mean if you look at it from another point of view, the only thing that went wrong (the TV) is hopefully going to be resolved within one to three days. A BAD situation would be not being able to buy a TV at all because your card got denied or we didn’t have enough funds. The iPhone? well we got into that knowing they wouldn’t have them in stock and getting one would take days, so no harm there either. Even so that’s not enough to assume everything’s gone to shit.
Besides, you basically got told today that out of EIGHT fucking people, you are the Chosen One! (cue Highlander theme song) and it’s just a matter of days before they tell you to come over and sign a contract. If that fails, there’s always that OTHER job offer that you said yes to already.
So no, I don’t think things are as bad as you see them. On the contrary, things have been going WAY too good since we got here. We’ve never been strapped for cash, we’ve always had food in our refrigerator and have been lucky enough to eat out whenever we fucking feel like it. Just the way it was in PR. So yeah, life is definitely good. No, better, in my opinion.
And this comes from a guy who hasn’t had his study loans approved and classes start in less than a week.

I hear DS, though. Sometimes getting myself nice, expensive shit gives me the feeling that it’ll bite me in the ass in the long run. But there comes a time when you have to say “fuck it” and enjoy the shit your hard-earned money can buy.
Tranquilo, DS… que la última la paga el diablo.
